Inspiration in Sport is an exciting and ground-breaking new charity which works closely with the dedicated sports department at Huntercombe Young Offenders Institution in Oxfordshire.

Together with the team at Huntercombe, our charity selects a number of young offenders who have shown a real commitment to a sport, and we forge a unique bond with these promising individuals.

A number of devoted mentors from Inspiration in Sport follow the development of these young men through their prison sentence and, vitally, remain in contact with them, guiding and supporting them to achieve a successful return to society. Inspiration in Sport offers an essential bridge between the confines of prison and the overwhelming world which awaits them beyond.

By introducing young offenders in prison to a wide range of sporting activities and accepted educational qualifications, the staff at Huntercombe are offering these boys a tremendous opportunity to explore new areas of interest and to challenge themselves in new ways. These skills are invaluable in the transition to their future life outside prison.

Our aim is to consolidate the prison’s work by offering vital support and guidance into a more inspired set of life choices. These young men may choose to follow a career in sport or be inspired to take on other challenges. Inspiration in Sport will help to channel their hopes and aspirations toward a more valuable life outside.

As a fund-raising charity, we will help finance further training and educational opportunities for these young men, once their prison life is left behind them. With the many and varied professional backgrounds of our mentors, we can offer invaluable advice for career opportunities. We may also be able to part-fund their future employment.

Together, the dedicated team at Huntercombe and Inspiration in Sport can help to guide these young men to a better future and avoid the all too common route back into a life of crime.
